“The Story of the Kelly Gang”
“The Story of the Kelly Gang” is quite possible the first feature length movie ever filmed. Made in 1906, the Australian film tells the story of the outlaw Ned Kelly and his gang of bandits from the 1800s Australia. When it premiered, the movie was a huge hit and it both amazed and delighted audiences in Melbourne.
The movie, however, seemed to inspire others to criminal behavior just like the characters in the story. The film was banned and all copies of it were either destroyed or lost.
