Extremely Valuable Treasures That Are Still Lost

Lake Toplitz’s Cache of Nazi Gold

Austria’s Lake Toplitz just might hold a hidden treasure beneath its surface. According to legends that have been circulating since the end of World War II, an SS Officer named Ernst Kaltenbrunner led a force of Nazis to the mountain lake where they sunk chests with large quantities of gold to the bottom of the murky water.

Although many divers have tried to locate the cache of Nazi gold that is still rumored to be in the lake, the poor visibility and the large number of logs and vegetation in the lake made searches challenging. People continue to look for the Nazi treasure to this day, but so far, nothing has been found to indicate that Lake Toplitz was ever the repository for the fabled treasure.
