The Padmanabhaswamy Temple, India

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in India is one of 108 temples dedicated to the worship of the Hindu god Vishnu. It is one of the most visited temples in India, but it also home to an unexplored chamber that has piqued the imagination of thousands of treasure hunters around the world.

It is home to six enormous vaults that have unearthed treasures such as golden idols, elephants, necklaces, and coins – rumored to be worth more than 22 billion dollars! Of these six vaults, however, one has remained locked. There are no discernible means of entry, and rumor has it that any attempt to open the vault would lead to the destruction of the city. Even the High Court of India has passed a law forbidding this chamber to be opened, so this site will remain unexplored for the foreseeable future.
