Bermuda Triangle, North Atlantic Ocean
The Bermuda Triangle is an area in the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of ships and planes have disappeared. The term was first coined around 1950, when writer George Sand published an article detailing the loss of several ships and planes. Flight 19, a navy training unit, was also lost in this region.
There are a number of theories behind these disappearances including extraterrestrial beings, leftover residual technology from Atlantis, compass failure due to magnetic anomalies, or violent weather. Although there is considerable debate over whether this area is truly dangerous or not, it has a large presence in the public consciousness.
