The Island of Snakes, Brazil
This small island off the coast of Brazil is the sole home to the most dangerous snake in the world – the Bothrops insularis. The venom of this snake is rumored to be powerful enough to melt plastic. Visitors are banned from visiting this island to help save these endangered snakes, and researches are the only humans.
The snakes were caught on this island when rising sea levels dwarfed the land bridge connecting them to the mainland. But the Bothrops insularis aren’t the only snakes on this island – there is estimated to be a snake every square meter, making the area very treacherous!
