Head on Display at Paris Exposition

The second major piece to be completed was Lady Liberty’s head.

The statue’s head affixed with crown was put on display at the Paris Exposition in 1878 — two years after the arm and torch were displayed in Philadelphia.

They placed it in the garden of the Trocadéro palace, with several smaller completed pieces scattered throughout other areas of the expo.
