Bored Out of Their Minds!
Theorist have hemmed and hawed over the causes of the Salem Witch Trials for many years. One theory was simple: boredom. The two young village girls who began the accusations, are sometimes believed to have simply been bored.
Within the Puritan values, children and especially young girls, were often restricted from sources of entertainment. Stories, some included witches and witchcraft, were an easy way to pass time.
