Conspiracy, I Say!
Puritans held a monopoly like hold over much of the Village of Salem. This hold was often led with purity and pure values that the Puritans believed everyone should have. This included going to Church.
Shortly before the Salem Witch Trials began, Church attendance was becoming lower and worried church leaders did not know what to do.
Some historians believe that there was a conspiracy held by Puritan Church members to get more villagers to come to church.
It could be believed that members of the Puritan society and church pushed for more witch trials to better support their statement of why one should come to church.
