They Helped Bring Democracy To The United States
American democracy as we know it today was based on the ways the Iroquois tribe operated. In fact, the U.S. Constitution is partially based upon the Great Law of Peace, the constitution of the Iroquois Confederacy.
The Iroquois Confederacy was a union of separate tribes, much like how America is a collection of separate states. The Iroquois elected a chief who would be their leader as long as long as everyone supported his decisions.
