Over 24,000 Native Americans Served In WWII
One of the most notable groups of Native American soldiers was the Navajo Code Talkers. They were a special group of volunteers who transmitted messages via an unbreakable secret code.
The Japanese couldn’t decipher the code. Little did they know that it was just a group of young Navajo volunteers speaking to each other over the radio in their native tongue. The use of the code was retired, but the Code Talkers saved countless American lives and to this day, it is the only code used in history that is still unbreakable.
