Dr. Dre Owes His Billion Dollar Fortune To Jimmy Iovine

Interscope obtained the rights to exclusive marketing and distribution for Death Row Records, a label that represented the most controversial and hardcore gangsta rappers. This affiliation caused Time Warner to end its relationship with Interscope. In 1995, it sold its 50-percent share in Interscope back to Iovine and Field for $115 million. The following year, MCA Music Entertainment Group picked up that 50-percent share for $200 million.
