Former Child Stars That Kept It Together And Are Still Famous Today

Christian Bale

As a 13 year old boy, Christian Bale was cast in the 1987 film, Empire of the Sun, a Steven Spielberg-directed movie. Bale followed up with a string of supporting acting roles but it was his role as a serial killer in the 2000 American Psycho that got him widespread recognition. Bale is known for the extremes to which he immerses himself in his roles and the 2004 film, The Machinist, was a prime example of this. For his role in this thriller, Bale lost more than sixty pounds.

He gained it all back, and then some, to play the Caped Crusader in Batman Begins in 2005. He went on to reprise the role in two more films. A diverse actor, Bale has appeared in a western (3:10 to Yuma), a sci-fi (Terminator Salvation), a period drama (The Prestige), and a crime movie (Public Enemy).
